Teams await JMR TD decision

The bids are in and the US Army is now mulling a decision that could have far-reaching consequences for the US rotorcraft industrial base.

At the start of June, four proposals were submitted for the Joint Multi-Role (JMR) Technology Demonstrator (TD) programme and each contender has now verbally pitched its concept to army aviation leadership at Fort Eustis.

The four teams – AVX, Bell Helicopter, Boeing/Sikorsky and Karem Aircraft – are each hoping their design will be chosen for the next phase of the programme, which will see potential flight tests of a TD aircraft late in FY2017.
