Spanish medical evacuation helicopters reach 3,000 flying hours in Afghanistan
Spanish medical evacuation helicopters have marked a milestone 3,000 flying hours in Afghanistan.
The milestone was reached by a Super Puma on December 21 after a routine flight from the barracks where the Spanish contingent helps to train the Afghan army.
After the aircraft's return to Herat, three Super Pumas then took to the air for a flypast over the Spanish Camp Arena.
On landing, the crew and the station chief, Commander Jesus Ramos Muñoz, were congratulated by the Head of Contingent and Medevac, Colonel Manuel Fernandez-Roca Teigell, and the deputy chief of the Medevac, Lt. Colonel Fernando Ruano Ramos.
The 3,000 flight hours of the detachment have resulted in a total of 280 medical evacuation missions (ISAF) flying some 529 evacuees.
