ADEX 2015: South Korea’s AW159 on the way

Site acceptance tests for South Korea’s new AgustaWestland AW159 helicopters are imminent in the UK, and the first four rotorcraft will be handed over by year’s end.

The Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) will take delivery of the remaining four AW159s in the first half of 2016, according to Alessandro Capocaccia, Finmeccanica’s PR and communications manager Asia-Pacific, who spoke to Shephard at the Seoul ADEX 2015 show.

Capocaccia said the AW159 project was ‘ahead of schedule’ so far, and that wide-ranging graft investigations on the Korean side would not affect delivery. ‘We expect it to go away,’ he said, affirming
