South Korean LAH takes off for first time

The Light Armed Helicopter (LAH) took to the air for the first time during a flight that lasted 20 minutes, this milestone being announced on 4 July by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI).

Last year, on the occasion of its rollout on 18 December, KAI had indicated that the LAH would perform its maiden flight in May. Two test aircraft currently exist.

The maiden flight came after a readiness review that was conducted in June. In April, a first engine ground test occurred, with the LAH powered by two Arriel 2L2 engines that produce 1,024shp, a unit co-developed by Safran Helicopter
