SOFIC 2012: BAE furthers APKWS testing

BAE Systems has tested its Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) using the M282 warhead during tests at Eglin AFB in Florida.

The testing took place in April, and demonstrated the system's ability to engage targets at close range and in small spaces with low collateral damage, according to the company. 

The testing, announced during the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference in Florida on 22 May, proved the weapon ideal for special operations, and 'we're interested in understanding what their [special operations forces'] requirements are', Kim Smith Unberhagen manager of business development for electronic solutions for BAE Systems told Shephard
