SOFEX 2014: Bell and MD attempt to steal Boeing’s thunder
Following Jordon’s failure to sign a firm order for the Boeing AH-6i that was announced at SOFEX 2010, both Bell Helicopter and MD Helicopters displayed their competitors at the latest iteration of the exhibition.
The fully-armed prototype MD 540F was on display at SOFEX 2014 with demonstrations of the Thales Scorpion helmet mounted cueing system (HMCS) that is being integrated with the helicopter.
Roger O’Dell, director of MD 540F programme management, told Shephard Media that on its return to Mesa, the helicopter will be stripped down to be fitted with the new Rolls-Royce M250-C47E/3 and will begin a full certification
