SOFEX 2010: Hellfire II for delivery to customers in 2012-13

The latest configuration of Lockheed Martin's Hellfire air-to-ground missile could be delivered to customers as soon as financial years (FY) 2012-13, the company has revealed.

Unveiling the Hellfire II or 'Romeo' variant at the Special Operations Forces Exhibition (SOFEX) in Amman, Jordan on 12 May, Lockheed Martin told LWI that the missile was due to pass final qualification with the US Marine Corps in September. An initial contract is expected this year with the missile entering full rate initial production (FRIP) early in 2011.
