Slovakia set to upgrade its Mi-17s

Slovakia is looking to upgrade a number of its Mi-17 helicopters, Prime Minister Robert Fico announced on his recent trip to Moscow.

Fico said Slovakia and Russia would soon sign an agreement for the upgrade of a number of Slovak Air Force Mi-17 helicopters, which will cover a series of avionics upgrades and possibly a service life extension programme.

The work will be performed locally in Slovakia with Russian technical support, most likely by the LOTN maintenance, repair and overhaul company in Trencin. About 14 Mi-17s are currently operated by the Slovakian Air Force.
