More solid details have emerged regarding Aviation Corporation of China’s (AVIC) 10t-class Advanced Heavy Lift (AHL) helicopter thanks to the display of a scale model at the China Helicopter Exposition in Tianjin.

A joint project between China and Russia, the AHL will have a maximum take-off weight of 38.2t and maximum cruise speed of 300km/h. Operations in hot and high environments are important to China, and so a service ceiling of 5,700m is envisaged.

The model on display at the Tianjin show, held from 9-13 September, depicted a sleek-looking aircraft with a seven-blade main rotor (with paddle-shaped anhedral blade tips)
