Singapore Airshow 2018: Subaru opens UH-X maintenance facility

The Subaru Corporation (formerly Fuji Heavy Industries) announced the completion of an aviation MRO facility at its Utsunomiya plant on 18 January.

Its floor area is around 3,700m² and Subaru plans to maintain up to 130 aircraft there per year.

Until now, Subaru has performed maintenance on around 100 helicopters and small aircraft annually, these belonging to the Japan Self-Defense Force, Japan Coast Guard, fire department, police and local government helicopters at the Utsunomiya plant.

Subaru will produce the new UH-X multipurpose helicopter for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) from around 2021, plus commercial variants of the Bell 412EPI
