Singapore 2010: NZ company continues Iridium success

The Colombian Air Force is equipping its rotary and fixed wing aircraft with a new Iridium satellite communications and tracking system, it has emerged.

The system, which has been developed by New Zealand company Flightcell, provides user-configurable, two-way voice and data communications to and from the aircraft as well as GPS tracking information, anywhere in the world.

Speaking to digital-battlespace.com at the Singapore Air Show, Flightcell vice president James Mace said the company had been working on the Flightcell DZM2 system for the Colombian Air Force for the past 18 months and recently delivered a number of units for qualification
