Sikorsky seals sought-after subcontinent sale

The Indian Navy (IN) is desperate to obtain new multirole/ASW helicopters, and the procurement of MH-60R aircraft has now progressed to an FMS contract being awarded to Sikorsky parent company Lockheed Martin.

Announced by the US DoD on 14 May, the $904.8 million contract will see Lockheed Martin build 24 airframes under the oversight of Naval Air Systems Command.

Interestingly, the contract is broken down into 21 MH-60Rs for the IN and three for the USN.
