Sikorsky refurbishing Black Hawks for Australian fire-fighting

Sikorsky Australia is to refurbish ten ex-US Army UH-60A Black Hawk helicopters for firefighting and disaster relief operations in Australia.

The A$63 million contract announced on 27 July will see Sikorsky’s Australian subsidiary deliver the medium-lift helicopters to StarFlight Australia, beginning in the first quarter of 2018. 

StarFlight is a joint venture established in 2015 by LifeFlight and Kaan Air, and it intends to use the Black Hawks on bush firefighting contracts around Australia. The company also holds an option on a further ten Black Hawks.
