Sikorsky MH-60R wins Danish Maritime Helicopter competition

The Danish Ministry of Defence has announced that it will acquire the Sikorsky/Lockheed Martin MH-60R Seahawk as its new maritime helicopter. 

The Romeo has beaten out AgustaWestland which had offered its AW159 Lynx Wildcat for the Danish Maritime Helicopter programme. The third contender, the Eurocopter AS565 Panther, had already been eliminated from the helicopter competition in early 2012.

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) had indicated in November 2010 that the Danish government was contemplating a possible purchase of up to 12 MH-60R Multi-Mission Helicopters together with associated parts, equipment and logistical support for an estimated cost of $2.0
