Sikorsky Aircraft and Lord Corporation successfully completed flight demonstration testing of the Hub Mounted Vibration Suppressor (HMVS), it was announced on 20 May.

The demonstration took place in March at the US Army’s Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD) at Fort Eustis.

Flight testing was carried out on AATD’s UH-60A Black Hawk helicopter and included progression from hover to 150kts, auto-rotations and 60 degree angle-of-back turns.

According to Sikorsky, testing in these manoeuvring conditions proved that the HMVS could supress vibrations in dynamic flight conditions, thus providing a smoother helicopter ride.

The tests were completed as part of the Active Rotor
