SELEX Galileo secures £10 million order to enhance the capabilities of the UK Chinook fleet

SELEX Galileo of Finmeccanica has been awarded a contract for the supply of 21 Titan 385ES-HD airborne turrets for the UK MoD’s Chinook fleet SH and SF FLIR capability.

The contract also provisions for the upgrade of 4 existing Chinook Titan 385ES turrets to the HD configuration. The total contract value is in excess of £10 million and the turrets will be delivered between February 2010 and July 2011.

Titan 385ES-HD is the latest high performance airborne turret development by SELEX Galileo in its airborne electro-optic product range which also includes the Titan 385ES, EOST-46 and FLIR111 systems.

The Titan 385ES-HD contains a High-Definition SLX Merlin medium waveband infra red camera which utilises the world-leading Albion high performance thermal imaging technology developed by SELEX Galileo under co-funding from the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The Titan 385ES-HD configuration that will be supplied under the Chinook contract also includes other sensors in the electro-optic payload and the system will enhance the capabilities of the Chinook fleet in current operations.
