The second NH90 helicopter for the Netherlands Defence Helicopter Command has been delivered.

The aircraft arrived at De Kooy Naval Air Station on 21 July. This aircraft is one of 12 NATO Frigate Helicopter (NFH) versions which have been purchased to replace the shipboard Lynx and the AB412 rescue helicopters currently in use.

A crew from the Operational Test & Evaluation (OT & E) team flew the aircraft from Italy to the Netherlands.

This team carries out tests on the aircraft to ready it for operational deployment including the maritime tasks such as operating from ships and search and rescue operations.

A total of 20 NH90 helicopters have been ordered by the Netherlands government, the first arrived on December 1, 2009.

The remaining 8 NH90s will be used for transport functions and will be based at Gilze-Rijen airbase.
