Sea-Air-Space 2019: FAA to sign off on TH-119 IFR certification

The FAA is due to approve IFR certification for Leonardo’s US Navy TH-XX training helicopter entrant – the TH-119 single engine aircraft – within ‘the next 30 days’ Shephard has learned.

Last week saw Leonardo complete all flying requirements needed for the IFR STC and it has since submitted all paperwork associated with the certification process to regulators.

‘One of the things that made this [effort] a lot longer was when the FAA had a 45-day shutdown, but [that] aside we are back on track,’ Andrew Gappy, government sales and programmes at Leonardo Helicopters, told Shephard.
