SB>1 Defiant first flight slips as 'minor discoveries' mount

A number of 'minor discoveries' found during initial ground tests on the SB>1 Defiant Propulsion System Test Bed (PSTB), have caused first flight of its sister demonstrator aircraft to be delayed until Q1 next year. 

During a 12 December conference call, a revised date for the flight was referred to as 'early 2019' by Rich Koucheravy, Sikorsky director, business development, FVL who said that he 'wouldn't get into the nature of the discovery'. 

The Sikorsky-Boeing programme team are currently working on fixes associated with the discoveries however, with the PTSB expected to return to operations 'shortly'.
