Safran to support Danish Arriel engines
Safran Helicopter Engines is to support engines on the Royal Danish Air Force’s AS550 C2 Fennec helicopters, the company announced on 3 December.
Under a contract signed with Denmark's Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO), the 11 Arriel 1D1 engines will be covered by Safran's Global Support Package (GSP). The contract will run through to the mid-2030s, when the fleet is retired.
The GSP package will ensure the availability of engines, including guaranteeing turboshaft availability at a fixed price per engine flying hour. The package will be managed by Safran Helicopter Engines Germany.
Olivier Le Merrer, executive vice president support and services, Safran Helicopter Engines, said: ‘This contract marks a major new milestone in our partnership with DALO and the Royal Danish Air Force. We will deliver world-class services to guarantee the availability of their engines; thus demonstrating that the GSP model is particularly well-suited to supporting the engine fleets of modern armed forces.’
