Russia’s WMD receives eight Ka-52s
The helicopter regiment of the Russian armed forces’ Western Military District (WMD) has received eight Ka-52 attack helicopters, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced on 10 November.
The aircraft will now undergo examination by engineers of the WMD before they are handed over for deployment. Performance capability of all systems and technical manuals will be checked, along with radioelectronic equipment and engine operation. The pilots will then conduct control flight and transfer helicopters to their home station.
The Ka-52 attack helicopter is designed to defeat tanks, armoured and light vehicles, troops and helicopters of the enemy both on front-line and at tactical depth in any environmental conditions. The aircraft can also be used to provide reconnaissance, target distribution, designation to the command posts, and close air support for ground assault.
