Russia's FSS to get five Mi-35Ms

 Russia's all-powerful Federal Security Service (FSB) intelligence agency is looking to equip itself with a fleet of next-generation attack helicopters to help with security in the troubled North Caucasus region.

The agency has launched a tender for the purchase of five new-build Mi-35M attack helicopters with a day/night operating capability, armed with beam-riding anti-tank guided missiles.

These new Hinds built at Rostvertol will supplement and gradually replace the service’s worn-out Mi-24V/P fleet, which is used for border patrols in hot spots such as the North Caucasus mountains, with a strength of about 20 helicopters.
