Russian military receives more Mi-8MTV-5-1s

The Russian Air Force’s 15th Army Aviation Brigade, stationed at Ostrov in the western part of the country, is set to take a batch of 14 Mi-8MTV-5-1 tactical transport helicopters on strength.

The aircraft will be operated by the brigade’s 1st Squadron, whose fleet comprises a mixture of Mi-8MTV-5-1s and Mi-26s. 

According to Col Oleg Kochetkov, press chief of Russia’s Western Military District, all of the helicopters were submitted for hand-over inspection at the manufacturer’s plant in Kazan by 15 December. 

If the inspection is successful, the aircraft are expected to be ferried to Ostrov until the end of the
