Rostec, China to produce heavy helicopters
Rostec State Corporation plans to forge agreements with Chinese industry partners for the joint manufacture of heavy helicopters, the company announced on 11 July.
The plan is expected to be formalised toward the end of 2016 with a contract signing.
The announcement follows the recent signing of an agreement between the governments of Russia and China that will see the two nations’ industries jointly design an advanced heavy helicopter (AHH) to meet the requirements of the Chinese market. Serial production will take place in China.
Russian Helicopters will develop technologies, technical proposal and AHH systems on a contractual basis; while Chinese state company Avicopter will oversee AHH programme management and implementation, including the design process, building of development models, testing, certification, preparation and serial manufacture, and market promotion of the helicopter.
Rostec expects the agreement to result in the manufacture of 200-300 helicopters over five years.
