Rolls-Royce sells helicopter engine share to Safran

Safran has reached an agreement with Rolls-Royce to acquire its 50% share in their joint RTM322 helicopter engine programme, the company announced on 23 April.

The €293 million transaction will give Turbomeca, Safran’s helicopter engine business, global responsibility for the design, production, product support and services for the RTM 322 engine, a 2,100-2,600 shp engine family equipping the Apache, AW101 and NH90 helicopters. The agreement also includes the aftermarket business opportunity for the existing fleet.

The transaction further covers the intellectual property rights as well as Rolls-Royce’s 50% share in the RRTM (Rolls-Royce-Turbomeca) joint venture. It is expected that the
