Rockwell delivers weather radar for KUH
Rockwell Collins has delivered the first RTA-4100 multiscan weather radar to KAI for the medevac variant of the Korean Utility Helicopter, it announced on 15 February.
The RTA-4100 is a weather radar with improved surface search modes. Compared to conventional weather radar systems, the RTA-4100 automatically reduces ground clutter for the detection and display of weather related hazards.
Additionally, the solid-state radar features advanced modes for maritime search operations as well as enhanced shoreline depictions to provide timely and accurate recovery/transport during critical medical emergencies.
Jim Walker, vice president and manager director, Asia Pacific, Rockwell Collins, said: ‘Our RTA-4100 multiscan weather radar will provide enhanced safety and mission capability during the highly adverse weather conditions in which the KUH helicopter will be required to operate while performing its critical emergency medical evacuation missions.’
