RCAF yet to decide on Griffon replacement

Despite a Canadian Senate committee report recommending a year ago that the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) replace the majority of its Bell CH146 Griffon fleet with attack and medium to heavy-lift military helicopters, no such plans have been taken forward.

The report, published in May 2017, originally called for 55 of the 95 Griffon fleet to be replaced to ‘support military needs’ and 24 attack aircraft to be acquired to protect the RCAF’s CH-147F Chinook fleet during SAR operations. The Griffon is a modified version of the Bell 412 utility twin.
