Raytheon Stinger targets new Apaches

Both Qatar and India have selected the Raytheon Stinger air-to-air missile system for their new Apache AH-64E aircraft, Shephard has confirmed.

Under the multi-nation contract awarded in December 2016, the company will supply India and Qatar with the Stinger-RMP (Reprogrammable Microprocessor) missile and launch systems.

'Stingers are sold as [a foreign military sale] so while Boeing has a contract with both India and Qatar both of those nations had to formally request a Stinger air-to-air package. So we deliver them separately,' explained Jack Elliot, director of Stinger mission systems at Raytheon.

'For India they will get 58 air-to-air launcher units.
