Quad A 2011: Piasecki makes VTDP modifications for next phase of testing

Piasecki is looking to move ahead with the next phase of its flight testing on the X-49A Vectored Thrust Ducted Propeller Compound Helicopter Technology (VTDP) demonstrator, according to company officials.

Having proven to the US Army the modified Seahawk can reach 185 kts, Piasecki said  the next phase of modifications would allow the aircraft to reach speeds of around 215 kts and boost the aircraft's payload by a further 1,800 lbs.
