Quad A 2016: Sikorsky defiant on SB>1

Sikorsky and Boeing’s offering for the US Army’s Joint Multi Role (JMR) Technology Demonstrator is on track to perform its first flight next year, with the fuselage for the SB>1 Defiant now being manufactured.

Doug Shidler, JMR programme director at Sikorsky, told Shephard at Quad A that the Defiant had recently completed its critical design review and a systems integration lab in Connecticut, which will validate the platform’s systems and software, is now operational. 

Final assembly is planned for the latter part of this year at Sikorsky’s West Palm Beach facility and first flight is expected sometime next year,
