Quad A 2016: Chinook to reach 100 years service

Despite a push by the US Army to introduce a new-generation of rotorcraft in the 2030s, the branch has plans to keep some of its existing helicopters in service for at least another 45 years, meaning platforms like the iconic CH-47 Chinook could eventually achieve 100 years of service.

Speaking at Quad A in Atlanta, Georgia, Maj Gen William Gayler, commanding general of the US Army Aviation Center of Excellence said that the Chinook, which was introduced in 1964, is likely to remain in service until 2064.
