Quad A 2016: Bell eyes early service for V-280

In the lead up to this year's Quad A in Atlanta, Georgia, Bell Helicopter reaffirmed its belief that its next generation V-280 tilt-rotor could enter an engineering, manufacturing and development (EMD) contract as early as 2020.

The V-280 is currently competing against Sikorsky's SB>1 Defiant as part of the US Army's Joint Multi-Role (JMR) Technology Demonstrator programme, which will likely influence the service's future rotorcraft requirements under its Future Vertical Lift (FVL) initiative.

Both companies are expected to fly their respective technology demonstrators at the end of next year.
