South Korea goes on the attack with helicopters

Attack helicopters are the object of desire for both the army and marines in South Korea, both new platforms and upgrades of existing assets.

South Korea is planning to upgrade its existing fleet of Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardians, even while it is looking for dozens of more attack helicopter platforms.

The Apache modernisation is expected to be included the Mid-Term Defence Acquisition Plan this year, although the serving helicopters are not particularly old. A total of 36 Apaches were delivered from 2016-17 after an order was placed in 2013.
