Industry partners ink T55 deal in hot pursuit of German heavy-lift win

Boeing, Honeywell and Rolls-Royce have jointly reached an agreement for T55 engine in-service support as part of a wider CH-47F Chinook heavy-lift helicopter offer to Germany.

Under terms of the deal Honeywell will nominate and licence Rolls-Royce Deutschland as its in country partner to perform maintenance of the turboshaft powerplant.

The move comes as Germany prepares to award a production contract in Q1 2021 to Boeing or competitor Sikorsky for 44 to 60 new heavy-lift aircraft – a fleet replacement for legacy CH-53G/GS/GA platforms. Shephard Defence Insight describes an overall programme value of $6.4 billion.
