Poland in talks for 70 military helicopters

Poland’s Ministry of Defence has started technical negotiations with three manufacturers for an initial procurement of 70 helicopters, it has emerged.

The deal is part of an overhaul of the Polish military’s entire fleet of Soviet-era helicopters, with up to 200 aircraft expected to be purchased over the next two decades.

Speaking to press on 17 July, Tomasz Siemoniak, Poland's Minister of National Defence, confirmed immediate steps were being taken to acquire a new fleet of multi-purpose helicopters for the Polish Army, with delivery of the first aircraft expected by 2016.
