Poland scraps H225M buy

The Polish government has cancelled its proposed plan to buy 50 H225M Caracal helicopters from Airbus Helicopters, media reports indicate.

Uncertainty has surrounded the $3.5bn deal ever since a new government came to power last October, which prompted a major review of Poland’s big ticket defence programmes. 

‘Poland considers the negotiations regarding the offset agreement with Airbus Helicopters related to the contract for the purchase of Caracal multirole helicopters for the Polish army as finished,’ the Polish government said, according to Reuters news agency.

Poland’s defence minister Antoni Macierewicz had already raised the prospect of a possible cancellation last November,
