PLA Navy shows off modified Z-9Ds in missile drills

Recent imagery released by the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) shows three of its Z-9D anti-surface warfare (ASuW) helicopters firing YJ-9 anti-ship missiles against a surface target in the South China Sea. Serial numbers on the Z-9s (fuselage number in 9XX7 format and 07XX tail numbers) indicate they are from a new production batch.

Additionally, all three helicopters feature additional modifications compared to earlier-production Z-9Ds.
