The delivery of eight Bell 412EP helicopters to the Philippine Department of National Defense (DND) is now complete, Bell Helicopter announced on 17 August. The company started staged deliveries of the eight aircraft in June.

The helicopters were acquired with the contracting support of the Canadian Commercial Corporation. They are fully equipped and configured to meet the DND’s modernisation needs, and will be used for VIP transport, combat utility and relief efforts.

The Bell 412EP features a dual digital automatic flight control system with an IFR option. It is also equipped with Category A/JAR OPS 3 capability for better control and enhanced situational awareness. It has a range of 357 nautical miles and cruise speed of 122 knots. The cabin can accommodate 13 passengers and two crew members.

Sameer Rehman, managing director, Asia Pacific, Bell Helicopter, said: ‘We are proud to deliver the final of eight Bell 412EP aircraft today - three months ahead of schedule and, as promised, in time for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in November.

‘Bell Helicopter has played an important role in the Philippines' national defence for six decades, and it is a profound privilege to continue this relationship and serve the DND for decades to come.’

Fernando Manalo, undersecretary, Philippine DND, said: ‘We are pleased to receive the last of these remarkable aircraft and continue our long-standing relationship with the Bell Helicopter team. We look forward to employing the versatility and improved performance of the Bell 412EP.’
