Four Mi-171Sh military transport helicopters have been delivered to Peru by Russian Helicopters, the company announced on 3 December. The aircraft will now undergo final acceptance testing before being cleared for service with the Peruvian Army.

Russian Helicopters is working with partner Rosoboronexport to supply 24 Mi-171Sh helicopters to Peru under a contract signed in 2013. A Further four aircraft are scheduled for delivery during 2014, with the remainder to follow in 2015.

The Mi-171Sh military transport helicopter is made by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant. The helicopters are being supplied with systems to boost combat efficiency, improved protection levels of main systems and crew; and an avionics suite that enables them to fly in adverse weather and all light conditions. The helicopters can carry up to 26 paratroopers, and they are equipped with two sliding doors and electro-hydraulic ramp for fast ground-troop landing.

A maintenance centre for Russian Helicopters will also be established in Peru to support the fleet.
