As Paris Air Show 2017 gets underway Shephard editors Grant Turnbull and Richard Thomas cast their gaze over the flight line to see what's on display this year and highlight some likely talking points.

Among these include the strong presence of ground-based air defence capabilities, strong participation at the show from Asian countries and an emphasis on payload options for both manned and unmanned aircraft.
