PARIS 2009: Brazil to become 'domestic market' for Eurocopter

Eurocopter CEO, Lutz Bertling has taken his 'multi-local' business plan to the next step by signalling an intention to make Brazil the company's fourth domestic customer.

Through the company's majority stake in Brazilian firm Helibras, Bertling wants Brazil to join France, Germany and Spain as 'domestic' customers and believes that within a decade would be in a position to develop, engineer and produce a new helicopter product in country separate from the engineering expertise in Donauworth or Marignane.

The idea was initiated following the December 2008 order by the Brazilian Government's order for 50 EC725 helicopters, which will be produced
