Pakistan enjoys attack helicopter choices – American, Chinese or Russian?

Pakistan has several choices as it seeks to expand its army attack helicopter fleet – American, Chinese and Russian. On 6 April 2015 it emerged the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) had cleared the sale of 15 Bell AH-1Z Viper helicopters to Pakistan.

The Pakistan Army Aviation Corps has long sought gunships to supplement or replace its approximately 48 ageing Bell AH-1F/S Cobra helicopters that have been worked hard providing close air support to ground troops conducting counterinsurgency missions.

Pursuing a second procurement option, the Pakistan Army recently took receipt of three Changhe Aircraft Industries Corporation Z-10 helicopters gifted
