Pakistan will now receive an extra nine new-build Bell Helicopter AH-1Z Viper attack platforms from the US, according to a US Department of Defense announcement on 4 April.

The foreign military sale (FMS) of nine helicopters and an identical number of auxiliary fuel tanks is valued at US$170.2 million.

This deal comes on top of a previous firm-fixed-price contract announced last August, when Islamabad ordered a first batch of three AH-1Zs. According to this contract modification, 12 is the total number now on order.

This work overseen by the Naval Air Systems Command should be completed by September 2018.
