Pacific 2019: Leonardo offers helicopters and UAVs to Australia

Leonardo has two Australian Army helicopter tenders and two UAV competitions – one for the army and the other for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) – firmly in its sights.

Speaking to Shephard at the Pacific International Maritime Exhibition in Sydney, Andrew Hill, Leonardo’s president for AgustaWestland Japan but also responsible for Australian programmes, said his company had submitted an offer for the Project Land 4503 Armed Reconnaissance Capability before it closed in late August.

Three other contenders – Airbus with an updated Tiger, Bell with the AH-1Z Viper and Boeing with the AH-64E Apache – had well-publicised offers,
