Norway selects AW101 for SAR requirement

Norway has decided to commence ‘final negotiations’ with AgustaWestland for the delivery of new SAR helicopters to replace its fleet of ageing Sea Kings, it has been revealed.

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security announced the selection of the AW101 on 8 November, dropping Eurocopter from the Norwegian All-Weather Search and Rescue Helicopter (NAWSARH) competition.

‘Justice and Public Security has today informed the providers Eurocopter, NHI, Sikorsky and AgustaWestland that the latter is chosen as the preferred supplier of new rescue helicopters and related equipment and maintenance solutions to replace the current Sea King,’ the ministry said
