NH90 upgrades continue as H145M launches

The first NH90 multirole helicopter delivered to the German armed forces in 2006 is undergoing an 18-month retrofit at the Airbus Helicopters Donauwörth facility after completing only 600 hours of flight in its nine-year service career.

The move is part of a programme to update 28 NH90s and is scheduled to run until 2022. Although the first aircraft will take 18 months to complete, officials expect that the final one will be upgraded in half that time.
