NH90 assists in Italian earthquake aftermath

Helicopters from the Italian armed forces and para-public agencies have been assisting in the aftermath of the devastating Italian earthquake on Monday.

More than 200 people have been reported killed, 1,500 are injured and more than 17,000 are homeless after the 6.3-magnitude struck the town of L'Aquila and the surrounding region.

Italian government agencies have quickly sprang into action, sending dozens of helicopters into the mountainous Abruzzo region. Among the aircraft deployed to the area are a pair Italian Army NH90s flying aid missions into the affected areas. These have been joined by a single AB412 and two Chinooks also
