New training helicopters delivered in Russia
Training has begun for Russia’s Air Force Military Academy on the Ansat-U helicopter, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 10 January.
The new aircraft were delivered to the training air base in Saratov region toward the end of 2017, bringing the total fleet number to more than 60.
Sorties by the Syzran branch of the military academy will begin in March 2018.
The dual-control Ansat-U was selected by the Russian MoD as the new basic trainer for the armed forces in late 2001.
The MoD has also reported that the Russian Army Aviation Regiment stationed in the Primorye Eastern military district has received five new Mi-8AMTSh transport attack helicopters and one Mi-8AMTSh-V helicopter.
Combat training on the new aircraft is set to begin shortly.
