New South Korean military helicopter requirements to be re-scoped

South Korea’s new mid term defence plan may result in the termination of plans for an indigenous attack helicopter development programme in favour of a purchase of second hand Boeing AH-64 Apache aircraft from the US Army and the scrapping of proposals to equip the nations marines with their own fleet of utility helicopters.

 

The revised mid term plan is currently being readied for final government approvals with high level briefings of parliamentarians underway since late April.
