More Mi-35Ms for Kazakhstan

Just three months before the scheduled delivery of four Mi-35Ms to the Kazakhstan Air Force by Rostvertol, Astana has decided to procure four more examples of the type.

Deputy defence minister announced Kazakhstan’s interest in buying four more Mi-35Ms during the Army-2016 exhibition in Russia on 7 September.

The decision to procure more Mi-35Ms came about following the withdrawal from service in 2016 of the last active Mi-24Vs of the Kazakhstan Air Force.

Despite being the ninth largest country of the world, Kazakhstan has had to rely on a small number of Mi-24 heavy attack helicopters that were remnants of 45 Mi-24s
